On my way to work yesterday (Saturday), I requested my colleague to get a thermistor, an LDR (Light Dependant Resistor) and an SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier). I downloaded the datasheets from www.datasheetcatalog.com and sat down to work. I also learnt from this site that Semiconductor is called Halbleiter in German and guess what Datasheet is called ?.......Datasheet :) . So, Ich can Deutsche sprechen, a little bit.
I wanted to understand the thermistor completely and then use it such that there is a linear conversion of temperature to voltage. I analysed a simple resistance divider and compared it with a bridge circuit. I got an op amp which could be used to boost the voltage if required (it can amplify dc also).
Then, I sat down to understand the basics of Analog to Digital Conversion. I realised that the mode of capture depends on the conversion time of the ADC and some other factors which I need to understand more deeply. Of course it also depends on the rate of change of the physical parameter being measured. I got hold of the three modes used and also got hold of the pseudocode for all three. Came across new terms like semaphore and ISR.
To a reasonable extent, I came to grips with ADC, I also realised that ADC is costly and can be used along with a multiplexer when more sensors are involved.
With this, I decided to complete the practical work and make a PPT and a live demo of the same to record my experiences.
will catch up with you later with more on this.....
Alles gutes
Glucklich Sonntag
